Anderson Police Department called us at approx. 6 a.m one Saturday morning and explained they needed us for an accident involving a vehicle that had been struck by a train as it attempted to cross the tracks.

What they weren't told was that the the owner of this vehicle was trying to cross the tracks in an undesignated area and high centered his vehicle. Instead of calling the police right away to alert the railroad officials, the driver decided to try to pull the vehicle off himself using another vehicle and some cheap nylon rope.

What happened next is pretty self explanatory. "Do you hear a train whistle?" What most people don't realize is that it takes almost a mile and a half to stop a loaded train. For Petes sake, call 911 or your local police department as soon as there is a problem. Fortunately there was no one in this vehicle when the train hit it.
